Red Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) are small, vibrant freshwater invertebrates prized for their striking red colouration and ease of care. They are popular in nano and planted tanks, where they help keep the environment clean by consuming algae and detritus. These hardy shrimp are social creatures and do well in groups.

Care requirements for Red Cherry Shrimp include:

  • Water temperature: 65-78°F (18-26°C)
  • pH level: 6.5-8.0
  • Soft to moderately hard water
  • A tank size of at least 10 gallons for a healthy colony
  • Regular water changes to maintain high water quality
  • A fine substrate, preferably with dense plants and hiding spots
  • Prime diet of algae, biofilm, shrimp-specific pellets, and blanched vegetables
  • Stable, cycled water conditions with low levels of ammonia and nitrate
  • Peaceful tank mates, including other small or non-aggressive species

Red Cherry Shrimp are low-maintenance, making them ideal for beginners. Proper environment and consistent care will ensure their vibrant colour and active behaviour, adding beauty and natural cleanup to any aquatic setup. We do our best to maintain a high grade of cherry shrimp with them at least being Sakura but we always sell them as just standard red cherry.
